Dignity Dreams

Let me say upfront that I have known Sandra for almost 21 years. She originally thought I was the curtain lady so was polite and gave the curtain lady the most heart warming smile!

Since then she has filled my life with laughter. Nobody works harder for a good cause. When Sandra told me about Dignity Dreams I didn’t pay too much attention – she was drinking tea and I was drinking Red Wine (maybe that’s why). And then inevitably I paid attention.

December is always Lola Montez’s Charity Month. All the proceeds from our Mistress for Christmas Party will this year go to Dignity Dreams. And if you have any of the items lying around please feel free to donate them as well.

If you go to the Dignity Dreams website – www.dignitydreams.com you will see their very humble wish list.

The Dignity Dreams Story
‘No Pads = No School’
It’s hard for you and I to imagine that there are 2.1 million young girls, between the ages of 12 and 18 years (living below the poverty line in South Africa), who have to resort to using old clothes, rags, newspapers, leaves, bark and grass because they cannot afford sanitary towels.
The result, according to UNICEF, is that 1 in every 10 schoolgirls in Africa miss classes or drop out of school completely.
Girls who cannot afford pads or tampons miss approximately 5 days of school a month, which amounts to 60 missed school days a year.
There are many aspects that link girls’ attendance to their menstrual cycles. The lack of affordable sanitary products for girls and women keeps them at a disadvantage in terms of education when they are young and prevents their mobility and productivity as women.
Dignity Dreams goal:

Every girl in South Africa deserves access to safe and hygienic sanitary products. Our goal is to help girls / women reclaim the dignity that poverty denies them and enable girls to make a lasting and positive impact on the communities they live in and society as a whole - they will complete high school, will be less likely to get HIV / AIDS or fall pregnant before 18 and will likely earn higher wages and successfully educate their own children.

Their solution:

The solution? ‘Dignity Dreams’ reusable sanitary pads. Reusable sanitary pads are a sustainable resource, allowing girls to wash and reuse them rather than having to buy disposable sanitary pads every month. In addition, they are inexpensive and environmentally friendly. The social benefit of this concept can greatly mitigate the disadvantages many disempowered girls endure during their process of maturing.

Environmental Impact:

‘Dignity Dreams’ reusable sanitary pads are environmentally friendly. Disposable sanitary pads take up to 500 years to disintegrate and are either sent to landfills or go through the sewage system and end up polluting the ocean and beaches.

Tackling Unemployment:

We are very proud of our contribution to lower unemployment - we employ unskilled women in Pretoria, thereby transferring skills and contributing to their economic empowerment.

Helping the poor:

Pads and tampons are too expensive for those earning less than R500 a month. The average pad / tampon costs R1.50, the average girl / woman uses 25 sanitary products during one period = R37.50 per month, R450.00 per year and R900.00 for 2 years. ‘Dignity Dreams’ packs cost R80.00 for 2 years - a saving of R820.00.

‘Dignity Dreams’ packs:

‘Dignity Dreams’ reusable sanitary towels are available in beautiful, feminine packs because every girl deserves to feel confident with what they wear.

Dignity Dreams Pack includes:

o    1 x Drawstring polycotton bag
Made out of colourful polycotton
o    6 x Washable, absorbent pads
A Dignity Dreams pad has a number of layers:
§  2 layers of absorbent towelling
§  1 layer waterproof plastic
§  1 layer polycotton
The pad’s wings are made out of colourful polycotton with a thin layer of plastic between the two layers for extra protection.
Dignity Dreams pads are one size fits all.
o    3 x Panties
You don’t need to buy special panties to use our Dignity Dreams sanitary towels. Dignity Dreams Pads can be worn with ANY pair of panties! It will fit any size or type, except for thongs.
Panties are available in S, M, L, XL.
o    1 x Instruction sheet
Explains how to use the package, as well as directions for wash.
o    1x Plastic bag
A plastic bag is put into every Dignity Dreams pack. This is used to keep soiled pads safe until you are able to wash them.

We Vibe 4 Plus - Is it worth it?

We-Vibe® 4 Plus
Winner of Erofame Toy of the Year 2014.

Since We Vibe hit the market in 2008 they have won every sex toy award around. It has been the world’s best selling vibrator taking over from Roger the Rabbit from Sex in the City fame.

We have now had 5 versions of the toy, with each version improving on the last. They’ve got smaller and the material used to manufacture the toy has changed from a smooth silicone (everything stuck to it) to a brushed silicone which I personally prefer.

The original We Vibe motors were a bit iffy as well. If you let them go completely flat they died. The motors have got better but we still warn clients not to let them go completely flat.
2014 brings us the We Vibe 4 Plus. It looks and feels the same with one BIG addition - The No. 1 couples vibrator now has an app!

With We-Vibe 4 Plus couples can connect in new, exciting ways — whether you’re in the same room or on a different continent.

This is not the first toy to use the internet to enhance the toy. Doc Johnson had a Rabbit that your partner could control over the net. It never really took off in South Africa but that might have had something to do with our lack of broadband. I wonder if the We Vibe 4 Plus will suffer the same fate. I have not had the opportunity to try it yet.

The We-Vibe 4 Plus is meant to be used together but I found that I enjoyed it more when I used it on my own. Because it is U shaped and has a remote control the We Vibe is a great hands free toy. With the app you can use it on your own (recommended) or together or apart/together.

If you have a long distance relationship, have access to broadband you are ready to go.
With the We Vibe (any version) it is slim enough to use together during penetrative sex. She gets stimulation to her clitoris and G-spot and he shares the vibe against his penis.
The original We Vibe’s were fiddly but with the remote control addition with We Vibe 3, using the We Vibe has become a lot easier.

With We-Connect™ Control on the We Vibe 4 Plus you get more remote control features and 5 bonus modes. You can control the clitoral and G-spot stimulators independently. The sliders on the control adjusts intensity. And then this is where this toy gets too clever for me.
Make custom vibration playlists. Choose the vibe, duration and intensity. Name the play list, save and play your custom vibe. There’s a vibe that’s just right for you.

Additional Modes

You can play with your lover from anywhere in the world. Send a private, secure connect link — no sign-in required.

When used with the We-Connect app, you have 10 modes to choose from. Plus, you can adjust the intensity and create unlimited custom playlists. This sounds simple enough and I’ll let you know how it goes.

The We Vibe 4 plus comes with a compact, body-hugging couples vibrator curved to fit her body and fit snugly in place. Download the We-Connect app off the iTunes or the Android Google Store, connect, customize and control from anywhere.

The Wireless remote controls intensity and mode of the vibrations. It also comes with a discreet storage case that doubles as the charger base. The charger base is USB-powered and it takes 4 hours to fully charge the toy.

The We Vibe 4 Plus is 100% waterproof . It is Manufactured from Body-safe medical-grade silicone — free from phthalates, latex and BPAEco-friendly. Carbon-neutral manufacturing and USB-fast rechargeable battery. It charges fully in 4 hours for up to 3 hours of pleasure.
The We Vibe 4 Plus also comes with a 1-year warranty which I don’t think is enough. It is an expensive toy and I’d be pretty pissed if it breaks or doesn’t charge after a year!
